The Big Holiday Question: Hotel Or Villa?
Whenever you’re making plans for your holidays, one of the most important questions is that of accommodation. If you’re making a trip, you will want to enjoy the place where you’ll be staying as much as possible.
To do that, one of the main questions you will have to answer when you start making your plans is whether you’ll be staying in a hotel or in a villa.
Both types of accommodation have their pros and cons, so the answer may not be obvious at first glance. Allow us to help you analyze the most important features of each option, and by the end of this article, the answer should be clear.
Naturally, we will be talking about high-class hotels only here because they are the ones that compare to private villas best.
When it comes to food, both hotels and villas have aces up their sleeves, so the winner in this category will very much depend on what you’re looking for.
In a high-class hotel, everything is made for you, often by an expert chef, and you don’t have to worry about doing the dishes or anything related to preparing a meal. You just come, sit down and enjoy.
Villas, on the other hand, require you to prepare your own meal, but you have much more flexibility when it comes to timing, and if you get the munchies in the middle of the night, all you have to do is open the fridge. You will have to do the dishes though. On the other hand, there are a number of villas these days that offer you a 5-star chef and service in the accommodation, which brings the villa experience to another level.
As we said, it all depends on what you’re looking for.
Top-class hotels will come with things like pools, hot tubs, spas, fitness centres, and maybe even tennis courts, so if you’re looking for something like that, a hotel will be ready to oblige you.
However, all these facilities will be shared with the other guests, so it just might happen that the tennis court is occupied when you want to use it, or that the pool is quite crowded.
You can find villas with these facilities too, but this may be a bit more difficult. Still, it’s not unreasonable to expect to find a villa with a pool, a jacuzzi, gyms and relaxation rooms. Many of them are quite close to tennis courts or even golf courses, if they do not already offer them.

When it comes to prices, villas are usually the more affordable option, especially if you have kids with you and would need to book at least two rooms in a hotel. In fact, the more people you have with you, the more efficient a villa becomes.
This simply isn’t the case with hotels where you will have to pay for every room that you book. Additionally, hotels often charge you extra for some features, so you can get unpleasantly surprised when you come to pay the bill at the end of your stay.
In most cases with villas, everything you find in your accommodation is free for you to use with no extra charge.
This one definitely goes to the villas. Simply put, you have so much fewer things to worry about if you decide to stay in one of these. You can eat whenever you want, use the pool whenever you want, you don’t have to worry about the people in the room next to you, etc.
This is incredibly important if you have kids along because they can just play and enjoy every second of their holiday. You don’t have to worry about the noise, you can jump into your pool at night, and generally enjoy yourself without a care in the world.
Hotels just can’t match that.
Peace and quiet
You will find that many villas are built in secluded locations, far from the city noise and often with a spectacular view. That’s why they’re a great place for you to come and recharge your batteries without needing to worry about work or anything of the sort.
Villas are also often surrounded by greenery, the trees may provide plenty of natural shade, and the scents that swirl around you in summer on a gentle breeze make you feel happy instantly. Naturally, you will enjoy your privacy during winter, too.
While hotels may have beautiful gardens, you won’t be able to just get away from it all. There will always be other people around, and many high-class hotels are located in the city centre, which is not exactly the location where you can spend a soothing few days.
If you just want to spend a few days alone with your friends and/or family and rest properly, villas are a much better choice.
Travelling with your friends
If you’re the kind of person who likes to travel with your friends, villas are a better choice because they can usually accommodate about 10 people (plus maybe a couple of children).
Not only is this, as mentioned earlier, much more cost-effective, but because of all the features discussed earlier (quiet locations, freedom to use what you want whenever you want it), it also allows you to spend quality time with your family and friends.
The kids can play around the house or in the garden while the adults sip wine at sunset by the pool and enjoy, maybe make a barbecue or something like that. Oh, and your pet can also run around in a pet-friendly villa.
Things like these bring people so much closer together, and you won’t have such moments in a hotel. That’s why villas are a much better choice for a trip with your friends or family members other than your spouse and children.
While hotels certainly have their advantages and can be a fantastic place to stay, staying in a villa is a whole new experience.
The freedom you, your family, and your friends can enjoy here is unprecedented, and you can really thoroughly rest far away from any distraction of your everyday life.
In a villa, you get to decide everything and tailor the whole experience to your own needs, from the time at which you eat to the time when you can use the pool.
Add to that the usually gorgeous landscape that surrounds you, with lots of greenery and wonderful views, and you get a place that can provide you with a perfect vacation. And if you’re vacationing with a larger group of people, villas offer much better value for your money!
So, with all that in mind, if you’re planning to go away on a trip for when the next holidays come, book a villa and you won’t be sorry. It will be a vacation you won’t soon forget!
