Makarska - Dog-friendly beaches

Makarska - Dog-friendly beaches

Is it time to organize your summer vacation? Well, the first step is, obviously, choosing the location, and if you plan on bringing your pet along with you, you want a place that is sure to provide them with a great time, too. This means that dog beaches should always be nearby.

Makarska is an excellent place for this kind of vacation. This is your typical small Mediterranean town full of charm and quite easy-going. You can enjoy a wonderful stroll here or even a hike to the nearby Biokovo, which is perfect if you’re looking to spend time in a more active manner.

On top of that, you can find plenty of great villas in Makarska which provide first-class accommodation, and there are, of course, some great dog-friendly beaches you can enjoy.

Allow us to introduce you to the best places for your pet to take a swim in this area and take a look at these top pet-friendly beaches in and around Makarska!

Cvitačka

If you’re staying in Makarska, Cvitačkais the closest dog beach to you. Only about 2 km away from the town’s centre, this beach is easily accessible, especially if you have a car with you. Actually, this is a group of smaller beaches withplenty of facilities such as beach bars, food stands, and ice cream vendors, and you can also go parasailing, rent a jet ski and enjoy all sorts of other adrenaline-fueled activities.
Cvitacka Beach Makarska

The last in the series of small beaches has been officially recognized as a dog-friendly beach, and you can let your four-legged friends run wild here. It is a pebble beach with plenty of space and crystal-clear sea, so anyone who comes here is bound to have a great time, especially dogs. Add to that the fact that there is a thick pine forest here surrounding the area, and you get the perfect place to spend your whole day.

Stomarica, Brela

It would really be a pity if you didn’t explore the whole Makarska Riviera while you’re here. This part of Croatia has some really beautiful little towns and villages, incredibly picturesque places, plus there are plenty of beaches you and your pet can enjoy.

The best example of that is a place called Stomarica near the town of Brela. Now, Brela is in itself a very touristy place, but what really put it on the map for dog lovers everywhere is the fact that it has not one, not two, but three dog-friendly beaches!

They are all very well maintained and offer a great experience for you and your pets because the sea is pretty much pristine but do keep in mind that there isn’t much shade here, so you’d do well to bring a beach umbrella of your own or something like that.

Ramova

Just outside of Makarska, north along the coast lies Ramova Beach. Now, this is an excellent place to visit even if you don’t have a dog because it’s so beautiful - the small cape here very much resembles the famous Zlatni rat near Bol on the island of Brač.

Ramova Beach Makarska

The part that’s designated for dogs is quite rocky, so your pets are going to have a lot to explore, but it’s also somewhat secluded. Furthermore, it’s a great place for snorkelling because you can often find plenty of fish below the surface. It should be noted that the beach doesn’t get that much sun early in the morning, so it can be nice and cool here, which is all the more reason to come here early and find the perfect spot.

Stazica, Baška Voda

Baška Voda is a town slightly closer to Makarska than Brela. Look for a beach bar called Oseka when here, and you will find one of the best dog beaches on the whole Adriatic! Pets are allowed to swim on one part of the beach. This part extends between the steps leading down to the beach, about 200 m from the Milenij aparthotel towards the south, all the way to the steps to the beach, which are located northwest of the Oseka beach bar. Directional signs for pets are placed at the top and bottom of the mentioned stairs and at the Milenij aparthotel, and at the other approaches to Stazica Beach and other beaches in Baška Voda, there are signs prohibiting the access of dogs to the beach.

Dog beaches in Split

Should you decide to visit the nearby city ofSplit while in Makarska, know that there is a great pet-friendly beach there, too. It’s called Duilovoand located on the east side of the Split peninsula. You will find small tents here that provide shade for your pets, right next to the sea, and the pebbles and nearby rocks offer plenty of opportunities for your pet to sniff things out.

Another good thing about this place is that it’s fairly remote, so you can expect pretty much only dog lovers to come here, which is a pretty big deal, considering how crowded Split’s beaches can get during the season.

Kasjuni beach in Split

It should also be noted that Split has another great beach for pets. A part of the beach called Kašjunihas been set aside for pets and their owners, and the really great thing about this place is that it is at the foot of Marjan, a green hill that is a symbol of this city, so you will have an amazing backdrop for your swim. As a matter of fact, this is one of the best dog beaches in Dalmatia!

In any case, after a visit to Split, Makarska will seem quite easy-going, and upon your return, you will be able to rest and relax in your first-class accommodation once again, thus completinganother fantastic day on Croatia’s coast.
