Zadar and its surroundings are rich in beautiful sandy and pebble beaches, so you might be wondering - how to choose the right one? More importantly, how to choose a beach where you can have some peace and enjoy solitude?
Regardless of your preferences, in Zadar, there is a whole range of beaches, so everyone will find the right one for themselves, whether you prefer pebble, sandy, a beach in the city center, or one isolated from the city.
One thing you must combine with beach hopping is sightseeing in the city, at least the core of Zadar - Kalelarga, St. Donatus Church, the Roman Forum, Five Wells Square, Kamena Vrata, and Foša, from where you can continue to Zadar's waterfront and enjoy the most beautiful sunset in the world with the Sea Organ and the Greeting to the Sun!
Regardless of the primary reason for your visit, one thing is mandatory in Zadar - enjoyment. Before coming to Zadar, make sure to secure accommodation in a location of your choice. Borik beach
Equally popular among locals and tourists, this half-pebble, half-sandy beach with a small concrete area offers a little something for everyone. It is located only 4 km away from the center of Zadar, making it ideal for a pleasant walk.
The shade of pine trees and the convenient access for a comfortable and uninterrupted entry into the sea are just some of the reasons why Borik is among the favorite beaches for families with children. It's also worth mentioning that you can rent pedal boats, banana boats, and beach chairs, as well as have a drink or lunch at the beachside restaurant.
Due to its exceptional water cleanliness, this beach has been awarded the Blue Flag, and on top of that, it is accessible to people with disabilities!
Uskok beach (Vitrenjak)
Uskok Beach, also known as Vitrenjak, is located just a few hundred meters from Borik. It got its second name thanks to the pleasant wind that provides refreshment during hot summer days, making it a perfect choice for sailors!
Among all the beaches in Zadar, this one is best adapted for people with disabilities and includes a fenced parking area nearby and 2 ramps leading to the beach. On the beach itself, there are beach chairs and sanitary facilities adapted for people with disabilities.
In addition to all that, this pebble beach is a true blessing when it comes to the cleanliness of the sea and natural shade from the pine trees.
Kolovare beach
Kolovare - another beach adapted for people with disabilities, also adorned with the Blue Flag, unlike the previous ones, is located right next to the city center.
In addition to the natural shade of pine trees, this beach is characterized by straw umbrellas that provide a true summer feel, which is why it is, among other reasons, the most popular beach in Zadar!
The beach is a mix of pebbles and concrete and offers a wealth of amenities: volleyball, water polo, a floating aqua park, pedal boats, kayaks, and more. In addition to the mentioned beach bar, there are several cafes and stands on the beach where you can refresh yourself with ice cream.
Puntamika beach - Beach with a view of the city
On the northwest side of the city, there is Puntamika beach, which fits perfectly into a full-day trip plan in Zadar. Although Puntamika beach is primarily associated with its pebble section, if you walk just a few hundred meters further, behind the Bamboo café, you will discover a whole new world. In this world, you can find your own secluded spot among the trees and hide away from everyone and everything, while your little ones can freely explore the charms of Zadar's beaches.
Queen's beach in Nin
Just 16 km away from Zadar, near the town of Nin, is the picturesque Nin lagoon with its five sandy beaFches. Among them is the famous Queen's beach, known for its healing mud. While the children play in the sand and swim in the shallow waters, you can also indulge yourself and cover your body with this therapeutic mud, following the example of the children. Sakarun on Dugi Otok (Long Island)
If you're one of those who always prefer to swim outside the city, preferably on islands, then this is the solution for you. Access to this beach is a bit longer as you need to take a ferry from Zadar, which allows you to travel by car, or a catamaran. Besides the daytime activities, this beach also offers nighttime entertainment, and apart from Sakarun, you will find numerous hidden coves and beaches throughout the entire island, so it's worth staying here for much longer than just one day.
Zrće on the Island of Pag
A few "scales" above Sakarun in terms of nightlife is the world-famous Zrće beach in Novalja on the island of Pag, known for its 24/7 entertainment! Although the parties last all day, you can also enjoy other activities. Try diving, waterboarding, riding a jet ski, adrenaline-pumping bungee jumping, or simply dance on the beach. Fun can be found at every step here. And imagine this - Zrće is just over an hour's drive from Zadar!
Beritnica beach
If Zrće is too loud for you, across from it is Beritnica Beach, which is almost the opposite. Although you may hear echoes of the music from Zrće on this pebble beach, it is still incredibly peaceful. Bathing in the crystal-clear sea, enjoying the beautiful view for couples, climbing in the nearby Stogaj climbing area, or simply immersing yourself in nature - this untouched beach (yes, there are no catering facilities within a 2 km radius) offers relaxation in peace and tranquility... except during the Life on Mars race!
