The picturesque Vrbanj on the island of Hvar also boasts the beautiful Villa Oaza, which bears its name for a reason.
Behind the traditional natural stone walls and doors decorated with artistic carvings, this special house is hidden. This lovingly restored winery from 1872 offers accommodation for 10 to 12 people and is a true paradise for a holiday. As many original features as possible have been preserved in the villa to retain the charm and flair of bygone times. Like everything old, this house has its unusual characteristics and signs of wear. Through the hand-carved wooden door, you enter the courtyard planted with fragrant herbs and citrus trees, from which a stone staircase leads to a small terrace and the first floor of the house. On the right and left sides of the narrow hallway, there are 3 bedrooms and a bathroom. The original floorboards, doors, windows, and beams have been preserved in all bedrooms and the hallway. The first bedroom has a comfortable double bed measuring 180 x 200 cm. The second bedroom is equipped with an adjustable bed that can be set up as a double or as 2 single beds.
The third bedroom has 2 bunk beds that can sleep 4 people. All 3 bedrooms share a spacious bathroom with 2 natural stone sinks, a rain shower, and a toilet. Another bathroom with a shower and toilet, as well as a sink and a washing machine, is located on the ground floor.
A steep wooden staircase leads from the 1st floor to the attic. Here, there is a large, bright bedroom with a 180 x 200 cm double bed, a desk, and a private bathroom with a shower, a natural stone sink, and a toilet. The window offers a beautiful view of the sea and the island of BraÄ. Right next to the main house, there is a separate small house for 2 more people. It has a double bed, an additional bathroom, and a kitchen with everything you need.
The heart of the house is on the ground floor, where the wine was once pressed. The old tavern has been transformed into a common living room, dining room, and kitchen, but can also be converted into a yoga room or creative workshop in just a few steps. It can be reached from the courtyard, the garden, or via a narrow spiral staircase from the first floor. In the middle of summer, this room remains pleasantly cool thanks to the thick stone walls, and in winter it can be heated by underfloor heating and a wood-burning stove. The wooden mosaic and terracotta floor combined with the original natural stone walls, furniture made of natural materials, hand-forged, large glass doors, and antique elements create an attractive, cozy atmosphere.
An imaginatively designed garden with several terraced areas of marble mosaic, a swimming pool, an outdoor shower, a fountain, and Mediterranean plants surrounds the house. A natural stone wall protects against prying eyes towards the village, while the view of the landscape towards the sea remains clear and creates a sense of space.
The house also has a carport for 2 cars. Further parking spaces can be found near the village. The villa also offers breakfast, grocery shopping, massages and yoga by the pool, excursions, and hiking on request.
Villa Oaza is located in the center of Vrbanj, a picturesque village perched on a hill on the island of Hvar, just 2 km from the sea. There is a small village shop and a cafƩ nearby. Vrbanj is located between the UNESCO-listed town of Stari Grad (one of the oldest towns in Croatia) and the pretty fishing village of Jelsa, and is a perfect starting point for hiking along old donkey trails, cycling trips to dreamy coves, or more demanding tours. The larger towns nearby offer a colorful artistic and cultural program in summer, numerous good restaurants, and shopping opportunities. Water sports and skydiving are also possible in the immediate vicinity.
